Currently have 2 offers, I am based out of SF. Yoe 5 Amazon AWS L5 Seattle 290k 401k match 4k Google fitbit L4 San Francisco 320k 401k match 10k I am actually quite confused about these options. Have discussed extensively with my friends and seems like general consensus is both are good options. So it's getting difficult to choose. Thought Blind hivemind might help. Leave a comment if you have anything specific to add.
Amazon still hiring? Of bc you got the offer a week ago?
Offers generally are only valid for a week, no? Is that an open ended offer, OP?
What is the level or YOE?
Updated post L4 at G, L5 at A. 5 yoe
This isn't even close. Amazon has no refresher, your 401k vests at your 3rd year, its health benefits are garbage.
What do you mean 401k vests at 3rd year? My first 2 year match won't be added annually?
They will be added, but if you leave before fully vesting, you are gonna lose employer's contribution. It's shit.
Do you want to move is the deciding factor IMO.
If you factor in benefits at Google vs Amazon that's at least an extra 10k a year. Amazon also builds a 15% yoy growth in the stock value when they write you the offer, Google does not. Considering how much better your wlb will likely be at Google I'd definitely choose Google
I am a bit spooked about 2 things at Google: 1. Recent support check in posts on Blind 2. Ad revenue might decline forcing Meta's fate on G Do you see any of these 2 as a big issues inside G rn?
Are you not spooked by Amazon's mandatory pip system?
What’s your level at meta, e4?
Yes
How was your interview experience at Google? I am looking for a switch. I would suggest to join Google if you want work life balance. That also depends on the team and org.
They are both good options but Google’s offering you more and you can stay where you are which seem like strong points in favor. Unless you would like to move to Seattle rather than stay where you are.
So naive of you to ask between google and amazon on this platform filled with hatred for Amazon. You will never get an honest answer here. Most people will vote for Google. I joined Amazon recently. Hit me up if you need any info. I will try my best. Just a heads up, my experience so far has been completely opposite of what people say here about amazon. Not saying it can’t change, but sharing.
Can I DM you too?
Sure

That Amazon stock price will be great in the long run. Also Seattle has no income tax.
Just a bit concerned about how thinly spread Amazon's capital expenses are with so many investments and high stock PE. But yeah aws seems invincible for now.
