A friend of mine has an offer from SpaceX (Starlink) and amazon for applied scientist. He does not have the offers at hand yet, however has heard bad stuff about both and wondering which one you would prefer in terms of career growth, and TC? TC: 250k
Starlink has more potential at the moment, but likely a lot less pay.
SpaceX is a pretty cool company, it’s a shame it’s an Elon Musk company.
If you like SpaceX, but don’t like Elon, then your opinion about him is influenced by mass media.
My college roommate works at Starlink. All he does is work tbh, but obviously the potential is sky high. Pick your poison.
Amazon all cash first two years
Also PIP or promo within 2 years.
SpaceX
Why is it so hard at SpaceX? What’s different?
Do we really have PIPs? Never heard about that and never met a PIPed person
I'm with Kuiper. This post made me check the SpaceX ratings, and it's actually higher rated than Amazon. Kuiper overall would be lower than Amazon if it had a separate rating. Don't come to Kuiper.
IMO SpaceX ratings aren’t lower because people there are generally way way more mission-driven than folks at Amazon, which means they’re more willing to put up with worse work conditions (bad WLB, pressure, cultural issues, etc).
You worked at spacex?
SpaceX 7 days a week work … it’s worse than Kuiper if that’s where his Amazon offer is
Amazon ads
100% Ads over SpaceX. Next to AWS it’s one of the safest areas of the company. Amazon can be rough, but culture comes from the top down and you won’t literally get yelled at.
