Amazon as per the list here. If you want to learn providing solutions for distributed system at scale.
Amazon will give you scale and growth you cannot get anywhere else. 2 years at amazon and you would be able to get 300k anywhere. People on blind talk shit but the reality is that if you can break in to amazon and survive for over a year, it proves a high baseline competence. Bad engineers are dropped here and do not survive. Recruiters will thirst over you if you can find a way to thrive in what is perceived as this very hard intense place to work. That’s all true perception wise. I have recruiters from all the other FAANG reach out to me on LinkedIn all the times starting around when I hit 1 year at AWS. Internally, a lot is expected to you compared to other tech companies, but for the TC, level of learning and scale, how it sets up your career, 100% worth it imo. It’s not like I am working 7am-7pm 7 days a week. It’s just that those 9-5 hours, I’m actually working. I’m not playing games all day and moving the trackpad to stay online in slack as is common in other places. TLDR, if you are willing to work a reasonable amount and not coast, it is worth coming. It will launch your career places no other company could. But if you want to just lay low and have the ability to play video games all day and just pretend to work on slack at the expense of growth and learning, you can easily do that elsewhere. Not hating it, I did that the first 3 years of my career at non tech co. Majorly regret it today. Don’t be like me.
Thanks for the insights.
I was able to get multiple offers after 2 years and 1 promotion in AWS (joined as new grad). I had a great team and good projects but was ultimately forced to leave AWS because almost all of my previous team mates left.
What team are you interviewing with at eventbrite? You don’t have to disclose details but generally speaking and I can give you an idea
Amazon has a poor brand name for behavioral interviews.
