Long story short, While I was there both of our performances were average and we started same time at Amazon and same amount of past YOE! But he is promoted to SDE2 now, and I was pip’ed back then😞!! I don’t feel jealous for him, but why me? If our performances and work was same all time🙂! TC: 220k #tech #amazon

What happens when most of your team is Indian?
You clearly do feel jealous of him
You know about URA right ? Your manager had to choose someone. You got unlucky. Don’t think too much about it and let it go.
A promotion means an increase in pay, and that money needs to come from somewhere. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
It is not a zero sum game
Who cares, move on.
At Amazon if you don't know who they'll PIP, assume it's you.
Time to get a better job elsewhere?
my company piped me for a senior level in 2020. Since then, I took a lead role in two projects and still a lead developer of a new feature team. But my title is still old one and pay is same. What I enjoy is I learn so much, and when I feel I need to move on to different company, I will do it. But now I enjoy much.
I am new to blind. What exactly does pip'ed mean? Fired?
Yes
Couple things to unpack here. First, sounds like you’re definitely jealous. Secondly if you’re a low performer and got PIP I wouldn’t expect you to be a good judge of performance. Have you considered the peer who got promoted was a better performer, or maybe even improved performance after you left?
I am considering he might have became top performer after I left but we used to chat about our work. There were things and mistake which I did and he did too. But those mistakes were considered as factors of my PIP🙂
Amazon pipes the best of us, better to just bend over and take it
