what do you think about the Amazon’s investement in India ? Personally, I think it is not good for India’s businesses . They are going to kill businesses by introducing predatory pricing . I urge the Indian startups to rise and compete against Amazon. Also, urge the govt . to be very cautious . Taking how Amazon has done the same in US. People working for Amazon are not treated well and are paid very less. It behooves Indian folks to realize that any benefit India receives , its one 10 th of the benefit for investors at Amazon at the expense of SMBs .
I agree Amazon does not treat employees well but I don’t agree they paid very less. An L5 can earn 260k, that is no way very less. And on one hand, all these Indians come to the US to work and got good salary, on the other hand they are bashing a US company, that why people here don’t like these Indians.
Trade war against China is done temporary, and India is the next. India dose not have many cards as China. So ENJOY!
Wow! It’s the same question within a week, so I will paste my response. Indian retail is a tough cookie to crack, specially because consumer has affinity to local traders. I would like to see Amazon to try to disrupt the Indian small business domain. Only good can come out of it because diverse Indian business community, like many developing countries, are notoriously famous for using crafty tactical ways to circumvent the laws of the land and making immense profit. If any thing, Amazon will show a path to SBE and startups on how to navigate Indian waters. I would say, like H1B, only good things can come out of it. Tech community should celebrate this love by Amazon. Since 2010, Amazon has spent $270 B in 40 US states, so $1B is not a big deal for them. Moreover, tech community in India will thrive due to Amazon investments. This is what liberal globalization is all about. \/
If they make more warehouses in India, that would give sellers opportunities to sell worldwide using fulfilled by Amazon orders. Build and sell things in higher numbers than selling at local store in lower numbers. Most Indian shopkeepers don't have progressive mindset, they will have to adapt to survive.
I largely disagree with most of the people’s analysis . India has seen an East India company in the past and the same can not be acceptable to the people of India . Amazon entering Indian waters is okay if you invest a lot for export . But you can’t use this as an excuse to sell in India . You get raw materials from India , process in India and then sell at higher rates in India ? Seems a lot like another East India company. I don’t think people are ready for that and I hope there is significant pushback on this . Or There should be strict regulations on the price of the product that is made in India and sold in India . For the folks who think people come here on H1B and make a lot of money - first the companies need them . Second , it’s not that Indian tech are not smart and can’t build new companies on their own in their own country . It’s just that Indian culture is too abusive for people to work in India . It’s not that abusive in US and that is the only reason people can tolerate working here .
What you described is literally any shop in general, you buy cheap from the source and sell at a higher rate. Also https://www.google.com/amp/s/qz.com/india/964843/less-than-5-of-india-engineers-are-cut-out-for-high-skill-programming-jobs/amp/
Of course, but the money remains in Indian economy. With Amazon or East India company, money went abroad . The above analysis is done by aspiring minds , which is really just a company terrible at its job . You should actually go at the ground level to see that folks are good enough .
Are you kidding me? Have you ever heard of competition-driven pricing? There is a reason why data is cheapest in the world in India- it's because of fierce comp. What about that richest Indian guy who is known for flooding the market with abundance? Will he stay quiet and let Amazon win India? I don't think so; however, if you are Indian, you would know better.
Reliance vs Amazon . No competition because they work in different areas .
Cmon dude- you are highly misinformed. Read this article from business standard India https://www.google.com/amp/s/wap.business-standard.com/article-amp/companies/reliance-vs-amazon-can-bezos-beat-ambani-without-getting-bruised-119012200209_1.html
If Amazon doesn't Ambani will.
