How is this sde2 offer 115 base , 60 joining over 2 years , 100 k stocks Amazon . Yoe 2 Location Seattle
Negotiate: 125 base Try pushing for 75k joining over 2 years. This increase is for the extra 10 hours per week you will spend at work than most software engineers at other companies.
Isn't working at amazon is like selling your services at wholesale rate? They buy more of your time for discount hourly rate.
Any stats (non-anecdotal) to back up your claim that amazon SDEs work longer hours?
Honestly you can get offer like that from Microsoft and have good wlb
Happy to interview 😬
Looks more like an sde1 offer. If you’re really an sde2, you should cite the bar raiser process to justify why you should get paid above average within the band.
That’s what I am thinking I am sure I interviewed for sde2, I fucked up in one of the problem solving ones , but the bar raiser was absolutely fantastic. I had also mentioned the HR before interview that I am okay with sde1 position though
Think this is SDE1
Are you sure it's SDE2? Base should be at least 130k if so.
This is sde1 offer
You probably got down-leveled after your interview or interviewed for a SDE1 role. SDE2’s usually have 3 YOE minimum. Anything under that is typically SDE1, barring some sort of extenuating circumstances/outstanding references/PhD/etc. Still absolutely worth considering though! Just probably not a SDE2 offer.

SDE1 is probably for the best then. If you come in as a SDE2, you have SDE2 expectations and if you’re not there technically, you can burn out faster. Good luck to you! Hope everything works out in the end.
This is very low A friend (with 2.5 yoe) last year got 145 base and 130 stocks with 75K signing bonus for an SDE 2 offer.
Is that year 1 joining or 60k over 2 years? Stocks could be higher.
Edited, over 2 years
How high ? What about the rest ?
