Had an onsite interview with Amazon. I got a decision of no-hire for the team. But recruiter mentioned it is not a reject and they are looking into other teams as my performance was good. The recruiter also reiterated this by saying there is no cooldown period. What does this mean? Is this common in Amazon or is it just an eye-wash? Should I have any hope of Amazon coming back with a relevant position they can match?
Yes, it's common. BR and HM must be having opposite votes, thus HM didn't hired you for his team, but BR would have given you a hire vote.
Do they make you go thru the loops again? I heard usually they downlevel. I am in the same boat, waiting for the recruiter to find a role
Did they ever come with a team match for you ?
Does that mean u interview not for a team but really for the firm? I applied to multiple roles so was wondering if they consider me for all of just the one
It happened to me. I’m joining a different team.
It's called a recycle. They will put you out for consideration for another team.
My recruiter said the same thing. But she said her org doesn’t have the role they think I best fit for, and asked me to keep watching for new job posts. I feel she basically just leave it to me. How should I proceed now - find job ID that I’m interested then ask the recruiter (I think she’ll ghost on me) or friends at Amazon to refer to the hiring manager? Anyone has gone through this share the success story in a bit detail?
How did it go? I am in the same boat. Did you get matched to another team?
No progress yet. A little frustrating now
What was your role? DS or SDE? I am in the same shoes.
@GEDwow were you able to find team finally?
I had this happen too on cleared side. Recruiter said she’s going to call me with an update for a possible different team. Also mentioned possibly bringing me on as a sysdev or syseng. I’m fine with either but was wondering if I should be making an effort to find a team myself, she acted like she’d take care of it but I’m a little worried I’ll slip through the cracks. I think I didn’t do well at coding but did well at design and LPs, and bar raiser round went well if I had to guess
Yes, this is common. You did well on the loop but for some reason not a good fit for that particular role but a good company fit. You are now eligible to join other teams. Amazon actually does a good job at this and I have friends that joined after something similar.
How much time does Amazon take to match generally?
If you have a deadline you should let the recruiter know. If I recall correctly, my friends found a different team within 30 days. You will want to have a phone call with the hiring manager to make sure it is a good fit for you. Good luck!
