I did my onsite interview for Amazon (Seattle) a week ago for two Sr. PM-T positions and my recruiter just told me that one team didn't think I was a good fit and the other team pulled out. She mentioned that I did well in the interview but that we just needed to find the right team. Does anyone know what's the likelihood of getting hired at this point? I've read about this "reject and recycle" process and it sounds like some people have had some luck in getting matched with other teams, but it seems like the situation is more of a "right time, right place" kind of deal. How long do people usually wait to find another team, if at all?
It s always a good sign to get another team, I did interview with 2 teams at Microsoft to finally got an offer .the first team said that I was not a good match. But the second team was a good match. I 'll advice you to still interviewed and stay confident with your skills.
Another possibility here is they downleveled you from L7 to L6 and as a result you don't qualify for the role you applied for but they are trying to find an L6 role to match you with. You could ask that and tell the recruiter you want to know so you can look for your own role as well.
Interviewed last week for Sr. Supply chain mgr. The recruit said team think I’m better fit for PM - T role. But since her org doesn’t have such role, she told me to keep eye on that role. She said the HM of that role may just need a call with me or set up another onsite, up to the HM. I feel she basically left it all to me. And I don’t know how to contact HM of the roles I’ll find - still apply or ask friend to refer? Can you shed lights here and advise the best next moves? Thx you!
@OP - wondering how you went about interviewing with two teams . Recruiters back off right away when they know you are being considered for another team
How did this end?
What specifically are they telling you? Do you have an Amazon offer and looking for a team? Or do you not have an offer and they are talking about setting up more loops? What can happen: Every Amazon loop has a bar raiser and a hiring manager. Bar raiser is an expert interviewer from outside the HM's org. BR ultimately makes the decision to hire you. If HM concurs then you go to the HM. If the HM is not inclined but the BR is then you will get an offer but they need to find a new team. That may be what happened. In that case you're odds of getting hired are high and you need to find the right team.
Thanks @s1FYp for replying. I don't have an offer at all- I was just told that another recruiter would call me to see if I would be interested in some other teams. She mentioned that I wouldn't have to do another onsite; I would just have to connect with another hiring manager and maybe do a phone call. I did get another call from another recruiter, but they were for SDM roles that I don't think I'd be good at given that I haven't coded in 5+ years and have been a product manager ever since and interviewed for Sr. PM-T roles. Should I ask my recruiter about the bar raiser/hiring manager decision? I'm trying to play it safe with my recruiter and definitely want to be on her good side during this process, so any advice would be very much appreciated. Thanks again!
