I had a friend try to flex his Amazon new grad offer recently in front of me and some other guys, saying it was more prestigious than fb and apple. This was his only offer as he couldn't get any other offers..he was rejected by IBM and walmart even. He admitted he only did a coding "challenge" debugging for loops and a 30 minute phone call explaining navigating a binary tree for the Amazon offer. Apple usually has a normal onsite process for new grads.. What is more prestigious for new grads? Would like to share this poll with him #amazon #meta #google #netflix #microsoft
Stop flexing guys .. dunno what’s wrong with new grads these days.
I'm not a new grad though, I have 2 yoe
be kind to your friend as he's entering the PIP hell the least you can do for him is let him feel superior
He got an offer immediately after a 30 min phone interview? Either he’s amazing or Amazon is even more desperate than previously thought.
The 30 minute call was the "onsite" is what I mean. Talked to an engineer for half an hour and got an offer next week
Yeah. That is normal. Have two classmates that way.
Ignore people like them. They end up just being charlatans desperate to cling onto anything to validate their narcissistic self evaluation of superiority. No friend, even if it was true, would claim they’re company is more “prestigious “ then their friends right after getting a offer. So he’s not only delusional he’s a dick. Drop him.
he's not narcissistic, just a poor lost soul who's trying to rationalize why he must endure years of horror
I've seen and heard of other new grads and interns from Amazon usually brag that their offer is more prestigious than square, Uber, LinkedIn, stripe, snap type companies and other fang , etc. It's happened more than a few times and not just to me.
There’s nothing prestigious about any company. All are businesses trying to make money and you are an employee getting compensated. Flexing for about a company is childish.
Eh? There is definitely prestige in companies. Just like different colleges have prestige. Some things are harder to achieve lmao. Plain and simple. Google is more prestigious than fucking the local company with no website because it’s simply more competitive to get into Google. Stanford is more prestigious than a state school in the middle of no where lmao. It’s okay to admit that things are more prestigious than others. Yes, in the end, it’s just a job. Stanford is just a school. But prestige is still there regardless of if it’s a job or it’s a school. I’d even argue that it’s childish not to acknowledge it. Imagine not being proud of going to a top 5 school because it’s just a school. Now imagine not being proud of going to one of the hardest companies to get into because it’s just a company. No difference.
Actually @amazon, I won't be proud of going to a school or going to the best company in the world. I mean my priorities may be different from yours. I'll work for a no name company with no website if they pay me considerably more than the most prestigious company in your book.
Me crying in corner and punching the walls
BS post. New grad goes through onsite with 3-4 loops. I am interviewer myself I haven’t seen anyone coasting in with one just round of on site. And by the way, an experienced interviewer doesn’t need LC hard to gauge your intelligence. I can even judge your problem solving skills with easiest programming questions possible. Lastly, In every company new grads are treated as future resources which help them to transition into industry and grow. Some SDMs don’t do this part properly to which I agree but comparing SDE with 2 yoe for Amazon and apple . Apple doesn’t even stand a chance.
Yes there are cases when new grads don’t go through 3-4 loops. Basically if you get everything right in coding challenges as well as work simulation challenges, you only get half hour interview which is for 2 LP questions and then explain the solution of the same question in coding challenge. I know lots of my friends get an offer like that. If there isn’t 100% score on coding challenges then 3-4 loops are done.
Gotcha, well I would say people who end up with 3-4 loops and make it through are most likely not false positives. Problem which I see here is people who cheat in OAs and get those 2 questions correct who end up getting one onsite
Let him flex? I mean at the end of the day who cares. He's probably going to get pipped in 3 months anyways so best to wish him luck.
😂
send him this picture
At this point even tinder is more prestigious than Amazon, after their horrible culture, insanely low bar ( sometimes with no interviews) and desperation
No interviews? Dafuq.
