I'm currently in my final year of undergrad and have full time Software Engineer 1 offers from Amazon in Seattle and Intuit in Mountain View. I interned at Intuit over the summer and really enjoyed the culture and work and would love to go back, but I'm considering accepting Amazon because I'm worried that I may be limiting myself in terms of career growth by not taking Amazon, because Amazon's name on my resume would be big. Anyone have any ideas on how my options for jumping companies may compare from working at Intuit vs. Amazon after 2-3 years?
Doesn’t matter. My friends from no-name startups/ mid-sized companies still get interviews and got offers from other any other companies. Focus on other factors such as learning opportunities, team, manager, tech stack of your interest, and etc.
WLB at Intuit, as I’m sure you experienced, is incredibly relaxed. Yes, Amazon looks great on a resume but so does Intuit, it’s a very well respected company in the Silicon Valley. I could easily argue that Intuit will open just as many doors as Amazon does - it’s all dependent on you!
Amazon/Facebook for new grads will pay dividends later in your career as far as career development goes.
Intuit and Amazon would both do the same for your resume and career development. If you already know you like Intuit’s culture I would go for the safe bet
Generally I encourage people to do a two year stint at Amazon and bail. It depends on what org at Amazon the offer is from. If it is retail or logistics run away.
It's a general offer so I won't know my team until 2 months before I start
Too bad. That makes deciding a tougher. You can always accept both offers and decide later. You are the CEO of You Inc.
Uh, TC for each?
It's not different enough to be important to me so I don't want to include it
Amazon is better in terms of career growth. If you prefer wlb then go for Intuit.
TC or GTFO, Kid. And congrats.
Intuit and start a company or side hustle at the same time.
Create a poll.
