I got a internship offer at amazon which is around 11k a month. Good chance of getting like 170k as a new grad if converted. NSA pay is kind of crap at like 70k. But it is a extremely high impact new team with little legacy code. I have not gone through the clearance process Samsung is a return offer at like 103k in Texas. But work is kind of boring. TLDR: amazon: 170k vs nsa: 70k vs Samsung: 103k naturalized citizen btw Plus I want to serve my country as I am an immigrant and this great country provided me with a lot of opportunity. using burner acct btw :p #amazon #nsa
Id avoid Govt positions in general. They usually are boring and pay shit. NSA / NASA senior positions seems cool if like you’re 50 and retired though.
If you’re an immigrant, you can’t work high security clearance unless you become a citizen
I am a naturalized citizen
Do NSA for a while then cash out and go corporate when you're tired of driving shitty car as a symbol of patriotism. Will be amazing experience.
Did people even read the post and vote? Amazon is an internship, with no guarantee of a full time conversion, and the 170k is hypothetical. Samsung is a full time position offer. Idk what these people are thinking.
What do you think I should do? I still need to go through the clearance process of nsa so that’s almost in hypothetical territory. I would like to work at google in a 5 year time
Go to NSA, grab the TS and become high demand for Amazon and MSFT.
I wonder how much the crap pay for programming jobs contributes to cyber security risks?
Even if you had all the jobs Samsung would be a great choice All the best 👍👍
Born in the US, never lived abroad, not so much as a speeding ticket, and my TS/SCI still took over 18 months. Ask NSA if you can accept somewhere else while you wait for the clearance.
NSA requires TS with CI or full scope Poly..long wait time
Yeah probably at least a year
