Hi Everyone!! YOE - 8 Current TC = $102k - mid market AE (trash I know) Amazon L5 Offer = AE but not commission based TC = $175k Base=90k Y1 SB= $75k Y2 SB=$60k RSU = 1,450 stock ($165,000) Salesforce - No offer yet but final interview schedule for SMB/growth non profit AE (pretty confident I will get offer) Probable TC = 50/50 split $90k base $90 commission target ....my question...should I take Amazon offer and still go through with salesforce interview and see what that yields? Or should I just work 2-4 yrs at Amazon and try later to get foot in door at Salesforce for better overall culture and wlb? No matter what it's better than my current situation, I just want to choose wisely. Also, don't want to burn bridges with either company I decide to turn down.
What’s the title at Amazon? No commission is not a sales or AE role
Account Executive 2 for bba (black business accelerator) it's a sales role, but mot quota carrying for some reason. However, I'm not mad to get a bit of a break from quota carrying
I would want a quota if I were an AE...
I understand. I just know that AE is in the job title. Are you saying you would go with the Salesforce role?
I would go to Amazon, get the cloud practitioner certification (CPC) within 3 months, and then apply internally for an AWS AE (67% variable) or ISR (43% variable) role. All AWS employees get the CPC within 1 months, even those who are zero technical without any technical background. It’s quite easy. This would make you look really good on an internal application as the AWS team would tell you can handle learning new skills and are serious about moving to AWS.
Thank you!!!! Sounds like a plan!
Hey, do you have an idea of how much AWS AEs can make?

Take amazon for sure. Salesforce is great but not for that segment you applied into. SMB/growth pays like 70k-80k base deft not 90k. And non profit is literally the worst vertical for Salesforce. We are CRM. There is no such thing as a CRM emergency it is already hard to sell this to customers because of the element of the solution but in non profit is useless. That’s the only vertical I hear decision makers not even know what Salesforce is sometimes. And that’s scary to me because everyone I call already knows who we are. But long story short no worse place to be in than non profit especially as growth or smb
Thank you!! This was so helpful! I figured my base would be around 80k with salesforce before overtime. Can I ask what you do at salesforce? This is my 1st time getting my foot in the tech industry door. I don't consider Verizon tech. Also, do you know if people successfully boomerang between the better companies within tech? Like is it possible for me to try again at salesforce for a better sales role down the line with Amazon on my resume ?
What industries or verticals at Salesforce do you see perform the best?
