I have been working at Walmart for a few months now after my Amazon start date got delayed from June to December. I wanted to see if most others agreed with switching from Walmart to Amazon after my delay is up. Both offers are in LCOL areas, so it should just be a straight TC comparison. However, I've actually really liked my team/product at Walmart so far and have had a pretty good WLB; this may not be the case at Amazon. I don't want to jump ship just for TC and end up regretting it because Amazon may have a worse culture or less stability.
Some Amazon teams can be bad, however, it is a better place to learn, especially with this TC difference.
Ask for raise in Walmart.. Avoid joining Amazon, it is known for PIP factory and backstabbing
Lmaoooooo
Detroit is MCOl, bud
Ask for equity at Walmart. Culture is not as toxic as Amazon, no hire to fire, and you have a lot of internal mobility.
I don't think it's really possible. I joined a few months ago as an entry level, and they seem to be very rigid regarding TC in the beginning
Op if job stability is top priority and your team at Walmart is fine just stay there for 2 years and then move. Who knows when Amazon will start mass cutting again
Take Amazon if you want to learn and actually get anything done. Also if this is global tech if you arent from a specific country your advancement is very limited.
Take it from someone who has been with Walmart for some time: Join Amazon. Walmart will always be wanting techies from Amazon but not the other way round.
What’s the yearly RSU granted at Walmart ? At x7
I’m based out of India so my information may not be accurate.
Weird flex but ok
Why is Detroit + Amazon not a good combination? I have my own answer to that but want to see your thoughts. I worked there for ~1.5 yr and left recently, had a decent experience (minus Focus/Pivot BS but that is not Detroit-specific)
I would take Amazon over Walmart. I worked in Detroit as well and as far as I could tell, WLB in the Detroit office was not bad (usually 40 hrs per week, sometimes more). I enjoyed my time there, feel free to DM me if you have specific questions.
Hey, may I ask which teams are good in Detroit? I heard BDT is bad...
Damn i was told Walmart doesn't do sign ons. These damn recruiters.
They seem to be very inconsistent with it
