https://www.cnet.com/google-amp/news/alexa-thank-my-driver-make-amazon-pay-your-delivery-driver-an-extra-5-dollar-tip/ I think its pushing it too far
Looks like Amazon is trying to train people to tip delivery drivers. If it is successful they will pass it along to consumers in future and every time you order something you will see a tip screen.
That is right, Amazon is taking frugal to a new level, what they should had paid their driver, they now claim it’s a tip, an optional tip. Soon, my manager will tip me when I fix a bug. We will all be on commission without salary, everyone is contractor.
Tips pay less tax right?
No, tips are income and people need to pay tax on them just like any other income. Some people who receive cash tips avoid paying tax on them by underreporting their income on their tax return, but that is bona fide tax fraud. It’s pretty rampant in the service industry, but the IRS isn’t going to be spending time and resources investigating a server over it.
You already are forced to tip for grocery deliveries on doorstep. This is absurd if you need to tip even for regular prime delivery of stuff the delivery guy only places in the Amazon locker in the future
Looks like every business is trying to use tips to pass on the cost to the consumers and increase profits for themselves.
I have never given my postman a Christmas tip and yet I still receive junk mail. Amazon seems to be losing its "customer obsession"
Who came up with this fucking idea …first Starbucks and now Amazon. Are they creating another revenue stream where they take more from consumers and not pay the delivery drivers.
Amazon was paying the tip
The program started Dec. 7, and the $5 given to the driver comes at no cost to the customer, Amazon said. The five drivers who get the most customer “thank you”s during the promotion period will also be given $10,000 and $10,000 to be donated to a charity of their choice. Amazon has ended the promotion allowing customers to give their drivers a $5 tip by saying “Alexa, thank my driver,” to their Alexa-enabled device after a million thank you
That’s what I said above that Amazon is trying to pilot tipping culture. They are training customers and drivers to expect tips.
i mean, you're not paying, Amazon is tipping them for you
Many reasons to be mad at amazon, but this ain't one of them
