Would somebody be able to share L7 and L8 Product Manager comp for AWS? TC: $550k (without stock appreciation) YOE: 14
I read that L7 who joined amazon precovid has tc over 1M now
Stock appreciation is irrelevant for this discussion though. My TC is over $5m because I joined Coinbase in 2017. If I were to leave I’d be comparing to other companies offering way more upfront than the numbers I’m seeing from Amazon on levels.fyi
If your TC is still $5M, I would not recommend leaving period. If you are over the cliff and your forward looking TC is much lower, then you should compare that to Amazon or other companies - presumably you must have a $5-10M NW now, so not sure why you would want to come in and grind away as a product management IC in any case?
Levels.fyi seems to generally report near bottom of band numbers since that's what many internally promoted folks get. For example, the L8 tech director number reported there ($830k) is a top of band L7 number in the Bay Area, and thus about what you can get as an external hire L7. External hire tech directors can easily get offers in the $1.1-1.3 range. I would imagine the story for the PM numbers is similar - 650k for a product director as reported on levels.fyi is likely around top of band for a senior manager, PM-T (principal PM-T is a bit lower). A product director probably tops out closer to $1M, if I had to swing a wild guess. My suggestion is dig through the detailed numbers on levels.fyi to see the actual ranges show up more clearly.
Of course I looked there, but the comp was so low I just couldn’t believe it. Had the L7 comp around $400k and L8 comp around $650k. Felt way too low so thought I’d get more opinions. But maybe Amazon just pays 🥜? That’s more than a full level off from what we are on at Coinbase (probably even more for you guys at Uber or places like G/FB)
So a $2T company gives out equity and basically you just need to assume it’s going to way outperform other blue chip tech stocks to make up the difference?
