Peak Hire has set in. Now comes the down turn.

Turn down for what

Microsoft Hccsgi Dec 11, 2017

They are moving out of Seattle

Amazon 🎼c Dec 11, 2017

Not moving out but my guess is saving up hc for hq2. Note I'm just a peon and don't know anything beyond what that article wrote so your guess is as good as mine.

Amazon Benny Lava Dec 11, 2017

Jeff is not happy with low unregretted attrition after abandoning stacked ranking and pivot quota. So hiring freeze for many org and the axe will fall next.

Day One until is Day No More

This would not surprise me

Amazon hulu100 Dec 11, 2017

Lol Hccsgi. You work for MS? Read the article “however. Amazon’s openings in Seattle exceed the combined Washington state postings of Microsoft, the University of Washington, Nordstrom and Starbucks.”

Overhired a ton

Microsoft Dhu5xS2 Dec 12, 2017

Plus nobody is leaving because of the stock price.

Amazon Benny Lava Dec 12, 2017

Not correlated to stock price. Ever since a guy jump off the building HR stopped mandating attrition ratio, and manager stopped firing the bottom 10% of the team.

Trim the fat.

Amazon AmzzSeattl Dec 12, 2017

We are growing in 2018, at least my division is. Have tons of headcount. I stopped reading the Seattle Times awhile ago.

Amazon Vacuum Dec 12, 2017

You must be in AWS.

So true that the bottom performers can’t be fired but go into a pool where any team can employ them at no cost for six months?

Amazon ogee Dec 18, 2017

Not true. To qualify for this pool, you must argue in front of an assigned panel that your manager wrongly placed you into a pivot. If you accomplish this, then you're free headcount for 6 months. If not, going through a pivot or taking severance are your options.
