Amazon is filled to the brim with the most spineless collection of “yes” men I have ever seen in my life. It’s no wonder every project is such a shit show.
Yes sir I agree
Isn't that one of the leadership principles? 😆
Pretty close, but with a twist. My previous manager told me never, ever answer a question with no. Instead "yes, but". For example, wrong to say, "no we cannot pick up the rolling stone migration this year". Correct response is, "Yes, we could, but then we would have to drop our entire roadmap and you would need to give me three additional engineers on top of my existing team. Then I can do it." Let the requestor see why it's not a good choice and say no.
Actually I’m one of those yes man you’re talking about. It’s soul sucking every time disagreeing and committing. Incessantly proving yourself. I’m at a point that I just fucking agree. So much better for my blood pressure.
Sounds like a new metric of “times you disagreed” is needed to monitor employee performance
Don’t do it. It’ll come back to bite you as most leaders and peers notice and will highlight to your manager. Get a spine or GTFO.
It feels great when a company starts out with a handful of people that the founder can hear from. When a middle layer is required and more get added, the stakes for everyone high up get higher and the stakes for everyone lower get lower. Guess what happens when majority is 'lower' and thinks that caring or not caring doesn't affect the big boat?
Whish I could like this post a million times.

People play the yes man 90% of the tine. The 10% when you move up is when you decide to have a big heavy pair of brass balls.
