I got a new Nissan Altima 2022 cause they actually sold it to me without any extra over markup - I like how it looks and has all features for a cheaper price point. Now I regret it cause reading online reviews shows the cvt transmission is bad (which I didn’t read until later - My mistake) Is there anything I can do ? Any experiences with Nissan cvt ? The dealer does have lifetime limited power train warranty that I got. Tc: 260k
I don't think you should be worried too much. I have driven Nissan with CVT. Not much problem.
New Altima is very good, especially if you bought the VC Turbo. People will complain about the CVTs until the cows come home. If you're concerned about the CVT, just get the fluid changed sooner than recommended and really ask the technicians at the dealer what they've seen and recommend. Unfortunately, Nissan was very much ruined in the quality department thanks to Ghosn, and they are still trying to reorganize and improve things internally.

Huge car guy here (did Subaru and BMW repair in another life before I entered tech) Nissan’s main target market is people with no credit who will sign up for a 90-month loan at 15% APR because it’s all they can get. They have fallen hard since the 90’s and are now a bottom feeding company. Nissan (Jatco) CVT is dogshit, coworker had his Versa bought back under Lemon Law because its CVT had so many problems. Another coworker spent BMW service money keeping her Maxima going because of transmission problems. Dealer warranty might or might not be helpful. The house always wins with extended warranties or they wouldn’t offer them. Expect them to find “evidence of abuse” and deny coverage Sorry OP, good luck.
Figured - Is factory warranty at least good ?
Factory warranty is generally better than dealer warranty for sure. If you generally like the car not all hope is lost. Keep VERY detailed service records, do all services on time, and save every single receipt and inspection report in a folder. This will give you ground to stand on if they try to deny warranty coverage at any point. If CVT fails and dealer denies coverage be ready to lawyer up and start talking to Nissan corporate. If you make it to the end of factory warranty with no issues consider trading in on something else that isn’t a Nissan. It is a shame to see Nissan fall like they have, they used to make great cars but in the mid-late 2000’s they went hard after the subprime market and now it defines them as a company.
