Which one is a better travel card and why?
One thing to keep in mind is, getting approved for venture X. A lot of people with scores > 800 have been denied as well. I would recommend you take a look at the approval odds for the card in credit karma before you apply.

It really just depends. Amex platinum is honestly more like a status card because a lot of people are unable to get back value in the benefits. For example the Equinox credit is completely useless for most people. If you do go the Amex Plat route I would try to search to get a 150k point sign up bonus. Also I would research double dipping on the benefits because I recently heard timing it by opening in December allows you to use some of the bonuses twice with one annual fee payment. VX > CSR for me personally but they are pretty similar. I already had a CSP but I'm going to downgrade to the card with no annual fee and keep using VX as the main travel card. I think the most noticable advantage of CSR over VX is that you aren't restricted to using their own travel portal to use the travel credit. VX has a higher sign up bonus plus 10k points on every account anniversary. Also they are starting to build out their own lounges but that might be a wash because there's only like 2 Capital One lounges right now

Only 1 cap1 lounge open right now. Why would you wanna downgrade CSP? Unless you no longer use chase ecosystem, without csp you cant transfer points. Btw, +1 on VX, i have csp and just got the VX, perfect card

I have a Amex business Plat โ travel perk hard to receive. Itโs not that straightforward as CSP. โ dell credit is nice. I just buy off things for gifts or myself 2x a year (200 semi-annual) โ some other perks that def do make yo the exorbitant fee

Venture X is the best for 90%+ of people. Pair it with CSP

It's the only high end card that has effective 0 annual fee (395 fee - 300 travel credit - 100 annual free points). So it's good for lazy ppl (in a good way) All other cards rely on your spending to keep it even. That said, if you are into points transfer, CSR has more partners.
