I had applied for a data scientist position at Amgen and I have received an email to schedule Karat Assessment on a programming language challenge. Email says Karat matches with a seasoned engineer for an interview, I asked the HR what will the interview be like and The HR told that they have no clue what will the interview be like or what they test, or who will take the interview, its just programming language challenge thats all they know... its not even the person who works for the company , some random folk who doesn't know anything about me or the company or the project i will be working on will test something thats not related to my job , should I take this ? What kind of an interview is this ? Anyone experienced this kind of interview before or Karat interview process ? Tc 112
Karat is known for being a pure leetcode mill and will rate you as a fail if you don't complete 3 problems.
I am a data science / analyst person , never did any leetcode or software development work.. I guess I'm not gonna take and waste the time
Which team ? Dm me
I can confirm you don’t need to complete 3 coding issue to pass the exam at Amgen. Usually you will get pass if you show adequate understanding for general questions, and performing decent in coding. Amgen is not FANG, if you hesitate about take Karat exam, don’t even think about any tier1/2 software company.
It’s a basic programming test that takes the place of a technical phone screen in the interview process. So for a data scientist it’s a couple DS knowledge questions, 1-2 sql questions and then 1-2 programming questions in language of your choice. A senior data science role (which is what karat is used for) is expected to still be able to program and this is the screen for it. That’s what you use for SageMaker, spark, tensor flow, etc
Thanks
location?
It had Florida/ thousand oaks in the JD
What was the ds questions like?
Looks like it will be a total hit or a miss. What a crappy process! Why are you even interviewing with them?
