Amgen insights

How much PTO do new hires get and is it negotiable during hiring process? I have 9 YOE and currently have unlimited PTO. What’s the base annual salary range for an L5 senior engineer? In manufacturing or production. Is Amgen reputable in the pharma or engineering world? Does having Amgen name on resume carry any positive or negative attribute? What’s the wlb and culture like for onsite employees at thousand oaks? Is the company stable and profitable or are there layoffs and re-orgs? Any other benefits or things that I should know about Amgen. #health #healthcare #amgen #manufacturing

15 days plus week off each in summer and winter (company wide shutdowns). I believe the vacations days is based on GCF levels and YOE. Each year after 5 years you get 1 more added

What are the levels in GCF and how does it correlate to YOE? Is this negotiable for new hires or is 15 days fixed?

Can u share L5 senior engineer base salary range?

Amgen reputable but salaries are lower than other counters like gilead and Genentech. Base for L5 varies I am guessing should be 150k-170k I get 10 sick days, 4hours accrual every pay check limited to 250 hours. I am not sure if this negotiable but someone mentioned 15 days sick off so i guessing they negotiated.

Regarding reorganization, they had two rounds of layoff last year. They acquired a company so laid off their members too. It used to be a very good company but not anymore. We are stuck in a toxic work culture so i think it is highly group specific.

The amgen offer is for $156k at TO. I have another offer of $125k in Dallas. In your opinion which job will let me save $ more? On zillow the rental prices for 2bhk at TO is approx $1.1k higher than Dallas.

If the rest of the comp is pretty equivalent, 125K in Dallas area will likely go further than 156 in TO. State income taxes alone will probably eat 40% of that difference. The one really competitive thing Amgen is 401K contribution, so if your comparing comp make sure to factor that in.
