Android Developer here, how to prepare best for the AI revolution?

I'm an Android developer and have been thinking for some time about how AI is changing everything in tech recently. I am using extensively ChatGPT and Github Copilot for personal projects, and while there are times when I am like, "what is this shit?", there are even more instances where I am genuinely impressed with GPT's suggestions. For better or worse, for a long time, Android had a reputation of a less than ideal framework, to say the least. Things like inconsistent API levels, device fragmentation, poor support for concurrency, issues related to configuration changes and so on, made developing quality apps on Android challenging. But as the framework is maturing and the issues that once were causing headaches are now well known and solutions to that exists, it's becoming increasingly easier to develop. There are less "gotcha" moments, so the code produced by Generative AI tools also is going to only get better. On one side these of course are good developments, but on the other side, I believe, this will allow few developers doing a lot more, and a lot more qualitative work. So the need for Android developers, or mobile developers in general, I anticipate will decrease. So, how do I make sure I am still staying relevant within the era of Code Generators, AI Code Reviewers, and so on. What skills should I be learning to keep up with AI? Are there any specific programming languages or AI tools that would be really useful for someone like me who's into mobile development?

following! I also work on Android and I've found chatgpt especially useful when jumping into areas that you're not that familiar with. For example I was recently playing with Android Studio plug-ins for the first time and just being able to ask direct questions instead of jumping around documentation pages feels more efficient not sure about how to keep up with the tools that are coming out though

You are not wrong. I am working on some side projects with ChatGPT and Copilot. I think frontend at this point is going to change drastically. It feels you have an expert consult that sits besides you and help you solve problems.
