Did some research today of how much revenue (money) the top companies in ad tech are making and thought of sharing. All numbers are 2021 annual revenues for the entire company unless noted otherwise. TC 240K Google: $257B (>80% of this total revenue is from ads) Meta: $118B (~95% of this total revenue is from ads) Amazon: $31B (ads only) Microsoft: $10B (ads only, includes LinkedIn ads) Apple: $5B (ads only, 2021 estimates by analysts) Twitter: $5B Snap: $4.1B TikTok: $4B in 2021, $12B in 2022 (both numbers are estimates & company is not public) Hulu: $3B (ads only) Pinterest: $2.5B Netflix: $0B ... for now :) will change in 2023 UPDATES: added (1) Hulu and Netflix (2) Apple
Thanks for collecting the numbers. Although mkt cap depends on many other factors, but looking at mkt cap / revenue ratio, TWTR looks pretty expensive comparing to SNAP. Not surprised when Elon pulled out from the deal
Where you surprised when Elon jumped into twitter deal like a headless chicken?
Well, it was easy to say in the hindsight. But the market at least believed in the deal since the market price was close to proposed one. The confidence was higher when Twitter accepted the deal. I started feeling he would NOT buy Twitter with that price when the market was sliding
Apple estimated ad revenue was $4b for 2021.
Holy cow, you're not kidding, I didn't know it was that big: https://pocketnow.com/apples-ad-business-5-billion-growth-app-tracking-transparency I've updated the post to include Apple's ad business.
Yeah there is a reason why you get TikTok at the top when you search for Instagram on App Store. Ha ha
We need more people in the world to install adblock in their browser / router.
Be careful what you wish for because it will bring down your TC eventually.
I feel this info is not a great value unless I’m a partner .
I thought was interesting gj op!
Thanks VMWare! And @cbvm7, I've seen folks here speculating on current and future stock price of various tech companies, and that stock price is linked to market cap which in turn is (most often) linked to revenue and profit, so I thought the above info could be useful when crunching those numbers.
