Another MBA program rejection! WTF

I got rejected from an MBA program even though I have a competitive resume (FAANG + Senior PM job + Tech/Eng Background). This is my 3rd MBA program rejection (2x MIT rejection previously) Is the MBA Admissions teams just after a good story? Like do I need a whole Disney movie as a life to stand out from the crowd? Note: this was the Boston University MBA Anyways, what now? #pm #product #productmanager

use MBA admission service- it's all about good stories. it doesnt say anything about your capabilities or you as a person. just need to make the reason for mba and your story compelling. MBA service can help, pay a bit money but a lot more likely to get in

tho my position is 'fuck mba', it's 2022 already

Meta Thelonerrr OP Jun 9, 2022

Yea I feel like I could do that, but don't want to spend any more money than needed on theoretical degrees

Boston U seems like a low ranked school given your profile. Surprised you didn’t get in - maybe they think you’re a flight risk

Meta Thelonerrr OP Jun 9, 2022

Yea i expected admission since I have more qualifications than most standard MBA apps. And it's a low rank... I actually got into a top 10 program in the past with less experience.

Workiva oMlc61 Jun 9, 2022

There’s your answer probably! You’re shooting too low for your safety schools

You need to change how you identify your gender and race.

Meta Thelonerrr OP Jun 9, 2022

Hahaha perhaps that's what it is

The problem is..MBA is more of a breadth first leadership course. They cram lot of subjects in two years expecting students to learn to make sense and decisions from the data given. As better part of learning happens during discussions with classmates, they seek diversity. Your profile might be really strong, but the IT - FAANG bucket would have filled out fast. An oil sales enginner with experience in Turkey having half of your salary and GMAT score has better chances. Don't lose heart, it's a narrow door for you. Why do you want to do MBA ? engineers earn a lot more than Product Managers anyways. If you are interested in finance etc. go for a CFA or some other specialized course.

Meta Thelonerrr OP Jun 9, 2022

Yea I'm Indian and in tech. Probably a dime a Dozen LOL.

Meta Thelonerrr OP Jun 9, 2022

Diversity goals sort of suck

Is your GMAT score not 700+? Considering you are a PM, you should be able to do well with your resume, essays and interviews. I don’t understand how can BU reject a FAANG PM. Anyway, If I were you, I wouldn’t bother about an MBA unless it can help you get a VP role post-MBA which could happen if you go to top 5 and join a Series E (or earlier) start up post-MBA.

Why do you want an MBA? It's not that useful other than checking a block.

Meta Thelonerrr OP Jun 9, 2022

Yea but it checks a block! Lol

LinkedIn SuprPumped Jun 9, 2022

Are you trying for full-time or exec MBA?

Meta Thelonerrr OP Jun 10, 2022

Part time online

LinkedIn SuprPumped Jun 10, 2022

XD wtf

PwC gWDu70 Jun 9, 2022

Go Part-Time. No one cares if it was Full-Time or Part-Time, once you have the degree.

Meta Thelonerrr OP Jun 10, 2022

Yea this was a part time online program

Palo Alto Networks dhdhgdg Jun 11, 2022

I would still encourage doing a full-time program. MBA is all about the experience, not much on the materials.
