So after the final interview done, recruiter calls me on Friday morning and says that I am probably going to get it. He said he was about to talk to the hiring manager and will get the final details by the end of the day. I told him that I will call him by the end of the day at 5 pm. At 5 pm, exactly the thing I dreaded happened. I called him at 5 and no answer - then I called 15 mins later - no answer. Voicemail was full. So I am sitting here over the damn weekend if I got it or not. Why do these recruiters have to do this ? I also feel desperate to get out of this trap of a role I am in which is probably making this weekend worse. Sorry for the rant!!! YOE - 14 TC - 175
That sucks. Hope things go well for you.
Chill man. There are so many companies hiring out there. Have a second offer in hand to negotiate.
Or make up a second offer at least.
The more you call them, the more they know they can ghost you. Take your mind off it and don’t give a fuck, and you’ll be shocked at how many offers come in. It’s just like dating. Channel self-confidence and you’ll be fine. Desperation will only result in loneliness.
Exactly. I used to be terrible at these. But once i realized it’s 90pc just build up and mind game. Now cruising through them.
Lol this sounds exactly like dating 😅
End of day Friday is 2:30pm not 5pm... That recruiter was halfway to the family cabin by then.
I can not stress enough that this is probably the case.
If I had two likes I would give ‘em to you
Slow your roll. Fridays are hard to round people up. My boss who needs to sign an offer and the HRBP that does the comp are both out till Monday for me and I had to delay an offer. Were doing the best we can with moving parts from both sides. It is literally NOT you. It's the process.
Recruiters are useless, they are there to make money not friends!
Internal recruiters at companies don't get paid per hire, they are salaried (actually friends with a few in the industry). Agency recruiters though id totally agree with. And who is at a company to make friends usually, no one, not just recruiters.
While that may be true aren’t a big part of their bonus based on hires?
Just an update regarding this - I got an offer and now having calls with the recruiter every day regarding the hiring process. Thanks for all the support and all of you guys were mostly right that I should have more patience. Just because I was so desperate, I made my life pretty miserable. Will try to keep a level head in future. YOE- 14 New TC - 245
Congrats, OP! That’s what we are here for. :)
Good for you!
Murphy's Law baby
Yes, unfortunately there are some rules in life. Never die or beg for someones love. Never show desperation for a job. I did it many times and I failed. I went through so many rounds and finally they ditched me. As I learn they all seek attitude in a guy.
I always say the interview process is just like dating. Though we know how good some tech guys are at that…
Hey, we may not be best looking but our money makes up for it!!
In my experience - how much ever you are dying to get a new job never show it to the recruiter it backfires in negotiation.
Totally agree on this! Once I was told that Im selected and will get an offer soon. After seeing my desperation when waiting for their offer they came back saying we have 3-4 top candidates to choose from and whoever has the lowest expectation gets the offer.
