A recruiter from Citadel Securities reached out to me. I've heard that it's the Amazon in FinTech, wonder if any SWE stays in there for more than 10 years? And what's the average time for a SWE to stay there? #citadelsecurities #swe
Definitely super rare to stay 10 years, but I’m sure they exist. 7 is longest I personally knew
How long is the average?
Not sure exactly, would guess something like 2 or 3. Pretty high churn, but my experience wasn’t awful fwiw (I quit after 1 year)
Had an offer from the Google of finance (janestreet) didn't take it. Analysed and tech seems to be winning hands down when you plot expected values and WLB
One year in Janestreet could be 3 years in Google? And you can also invest the money yourself?
I make 720k at Google. No state tax. Lower COL than NY. JS offer was only 100k higher. Just adjusting for taxes and COL I am saving more at G. Also I have a lot more exit opportunities. There are 10+ better companies to go to after G. Not so many options in finance.
