I do graphic design and photography casually as a hobby. Iโve been told by many people they want a print and/or I should sell my work. For those of you sell your work as an artist, how did you get your start? Instagram? Word of mouth? Art festivals? I have a website portfolio mainly just for easier sharing to friends, family, or coworkers. I can pretty easily build a shop on top of that for prints, but understand I need to start building an online following. I have no social media presence now outside of LinkedIn.
Curious about this as well, the level of photos I see at art festivals are usually so poor that I feel like I should try one...
I sell on shutterstock (digital) and pictorem (prints).
I do illustration commissions occasionally and will likely start to sell prints soon. Many people I know use print on demand (redbubble, inprnt, etc), which can be good depending on how much you care about profit vs ease (ie. not having to worry about payment methods, ordering product/stock). lots of advice on twitter, r/artbusiness should have tips as well. I personally got my start from word of mouth and by doing fanart for streamers
