If you are outside of the US and working for Kraken, are you employed as a contractor/consultant? If so are you content with being so? I'm curious to know what the risks and benefits are to this particular working setup. Thanks

Anyone?
It will depend on the location but you will be a contractor unless Kraken has a physical presence there. If you are interviewing just ask about it. I don't know what you mean by risks. Benefits would include the possibility to lower taxes by living somewhere with a low tax rate or moving around.
Thanks for the info. In regard to what I mean by risk, operating as a contractor as opposed to fte would reduce job security. Suppose if/when the crypto market faces a significant downturn again, would there be less need for a large number of staff leading to those in contract roles being let go?
Fair. That's a real possibility. It hasn't happened for any of the engineering staff as far as I know, but that doesn't mean it couldn't happen. Pay is independent of location so there is a chance you'd be trading job security for increased pay. In regards to letting people go, being a contractor or an employee won't make a difference. The roles are the same and are viewed the same. It's just a legal formality.
Commenting so that this gets more visibility.
