I am on my last year in University and doing my majors in machine learning but I love what development and graphic design... it is my first attempt to make a resume on my own. Won’t get offended if you roast me, but it should be a good roast!#tech #interview Edit: please forgive the photo I am actually not so photogenic so have no other photos but will definitely get a formal one
At least show your face in the picture?
I am really sorry but apparently I don’t have a formal or an appropriate enough photo basically I am not so photogenic but other than the photo anything else I can improve
You can certainly fix the photo thing. Use your phone to take a fresh formal pic and update it. Given you are not interested in taking that feedback, no point giving any more feedback. Same as some other folks said, I would probably reject the candidate based on this casual attitude towards their resume itself
Bhai tinder nai hai! A professional looking picture always looks good. If you don't have one don't put a random pic
I don’t have any formal pictures apparently and yes you are right! Naukri.com prohibited me from using it. But rather than the profile pic any other thing I could do?
GitHub links, get a domain and showcase your design, your achievements that's what hiring managers look for. A brief description of what problems you've solved would be plus.
Lol why do you have a picture of yourself on your resume? And if you're going to put one, why is it of the back of your head? I would not even read your resume and instantly reject based on that alone.
I am really sorry I am just not that photo genic, even this photo I didn’t take it was my friend, apparently I don’t have any picture and formal but other than the pictures any more information that I can add...
Lol it's not tinder
I’d just have a standard tech resume (even if you’re targeting art jobs) and a separate portfolio that highlights those skills. Also, the last sentence your story doesn’t make sense (grammatically speaking). “Solve difficult problems”; did you mean something like “I like to solve”?
Didn’t get what you said. About the last line, basically I am saying i like solving problems that are difficult for others.
Make that obvious. You wouldn't want the reader to guess.
Your resume doesn’t say anything you did, you need to build it out and describe your work and impact.
I am really ashamed that my Github actually, it’s mostly filled of angular projects and I have recently moved to react so the github is blank. I do have a domain that I tried to use for tech blogging and currently I am redesigning it with the react. Bishalsaha.com About design I have a good portfolio in Figma, I even got Dylan Field who is the founder of Figma to follow me & also the founder of Framer and few others... I have a portfolio in Behance and Dribbble to and i will add it. I am actually totally unclear of what information to put out and what not, I don’t want to be seen as arrogant. Other than that I had also Started a start up when I was 18 with stripe atlas and other things but I think that’s irrelevant as I said I don’t know what information I should put forward and what is irrelevant if you could help me with that
In your work experiences, use star methodology (Google it) to explain why your work was of any value. The fact that you used a specific stack is largely irrelevant.
Sorry for the late reply but I was searching for star methodology... understood your points clearly and thanks for the feedback
I'd get rid of the black, change my picture ( is it really necessary?), Remove the logos which do not depict my skills and fade them into the background, add more depth to the work experience part, add Infographics for headings like work experience, educational info. Are you a SWE student or a computer science student?
Thanks for a brief answer and yes I am a computer science student doing majors in machine learning but I mostly work in front-end like react and graphic design and illustrations... Not to worry about the resume format I have created multiple ones with a different layouts
Oh and reduce the white space somehow. Maybe increase the font size a bit?
Add spacing in the paragraphs
Will work for an administrative assistant role. Try to add weight to what you actually did, why, how and the result. You should work with your career center to tidy this, if you already dis then shame on them.
I have actually zero work experience, the most I have done is starting a start up when I was 18, it was a tech startup and it failed and I don’t think I should be adding it because most people doesn’t care about it. Other than that I don’t have any work experience right now though I am applying to a lot of internships and hope to get one soon.
You had a start up? And have no no xp? How is that even possible. Or was it really just a mobile app that you made?
