Particularly interested in machine learning with satellite data. Love to hear about what anyone is doing with it.
A couple of startups working on this, retail data estimation, agriculture, commodity data analysis
Thanks, do you know of any examples? Or would crunchbase have most of them with a simple search
Descartes labs, orbital insight, planet, Ursa, Cappella
Did anyone use TerraServer.com back in the day?
This looks really cool!
Kaggle just released info for Airbus. Challenge is to scan all satellite images and identify boats and return location. Go check it out I think that it isn’t open for submission but when it is you’ll be able to see all the submissions publicly. Also prize money is $60,000
Interesting. I wonder what are the limitations. Identification sounds relatively easy if you combine it with AIS data and also run against vessel registries? Anyone taking part?
I think imperfect accuracy for a corporation the size of airbus is catastrophic. Could you imagine losing track of a ship? Kaggle might also bring in unorthodox/innovative solutions easily. Having 60,000 as the prize money will yield solutions from several groups, only one of which you have to pay, but all of which you get t source further research from
Google maps
Anything new in maps? I saw some interesting geospatial storage and analysis in google cloud
