Have an interview and the role says $110/$185k a year, seems very low for a VP position. I make more than that at amazon as a senior PM. Anyway, can anyone can provide insight on VP salary there and work culture? CURRENT: $260k total
My experience was as an intern at SYF back in 2015. It was a decent enough place. Pretty bland place compared to Amazon. They have semi-predatory lending practices. Their Chief Credit Officer said they reject a lot of people with high credit scores because they don't make money on them. They love to lend to people in the low 600s. Slow pace, not inventive (but they try to sound like they are), typical financial services.
Blind needs a banner at least in the finance topic for all the tech people that titles in banking are inflated and VP is a mid level developer and that TC that was offered is pretty in line with mid level at a bank. I would say it’s actually more than the average
Agree, VP at SYF is basically an L5 at Amazon, but with lower pay most likely.
I joined Synchrony recently. The salary range you mentioned is standard at the company. I like the culture so far.
Do they offer bonuses and RSU at all?
No RSU, yes they have bonus component. Bonus component varies based on the band that you join in and will be part of your offer.
Recently departed synchrony. Phenomenal culture, you only work about 30-35 hours a week, but low pay. VP position is a 15% bonus, guaranteed. It never really multiplies higher or is smaller. Random RSUs can come, but like 10-20 grand with a 3 year lock up, no vesting in between. Compensation unfortunately was the biggest reason why I left.
There’s multiple bands of VP (level 12-14) it can range from 110-299 base. Each band has it diff ranges but bonus structure is 15% of your base. Then the company offers a multiplier on your bonus % base on company performance. The highest I’ve seen is 180% of bonus % (180% of 15% bonus). RSU are also granted on special recognition awards like CEO awards to avP, VP, svp levels. Those are nominated my superiors and are selected annually, each level has a different RSU amount. RSU are granted at SVP level and up. EVP level gets additional long term incentives. Culture is inclusive and supports diversity, flexibility and wellness. Company wlb is great - 30 hours a week sounds about right. For the hourly output , compensation is fair in my opinion.
