I paid ~$500 for an Airbnb earlier this week. Shortly before arriving in town I check my messages and the host is demanding a copy of my vaccine card and a negative covid test. I sent both but, because the test was from https://www.cuehealth.com/ instead of an "official" PCR testing site, the host denied me entry and I had to go get a hotel. The "house rules" say nothing about this so I asked for a refund but was denied. Airbnb is siding with the landlord because in the ad for the place they mentioned PCR covid test, but it was buried within 14 pages of fine print. Reading around the FTC website I see that disclosures need to be "clear and conspicuous": https://www.ftc.gov/business-guidance/blog/2014/09/full-disclosure I'd like to take Airbnb to small claims over this. How should I proceed? edit: reading that Airbnb has an "arbitration clause" which makes them immune from small claims. wtf is this sleazy shit?
Lots of bad publicity for Airbnb I'm not gonna use them too many rules
Don’t use Airbnb. Fcking pain to deal with hosts. Many are cry babies
I don't get why anyone still continue to use Airbnb anymore! Smh
Still better than hotel if you want a place to hangout.
Get a lawyer why tf you asking us.
Ever since i had a stupid dispute with the host like this, i always prefer hotels now
Yeah a hotel would never do ridiculous shit like this
No I work for them, would be awkward
People still use airbnb!?
I’m yet to find a cheaper Airbnb to stay in than a hotel. I am not a fan of paying more and having more responsibilities.
This one was about the same price as the hotel but it was right next to the place I was going. Never again
You sent proof of vaccine??? 😂 I would have told them to fuck off
Make a dispute with credit card
Easy enough
This, way easier and it puts the onus of doing something om airbnb not you.
