A friend (entry level) is applying for their first job as a SWE. He got through the screener phase at Simpplr, an we’re really confused by their interview loop: 1. They asked him to for a non technical meet & greet questionnaire on Skype (just through dm) 2. An HR rep contacts him explaining that the team liked him and that saw him fit for the role - something like “on behalf of the management staff am pleased to inform you the team sees you fit for the role…”. 3. The HR rep also sends a packet with what I can only explain as an unofficial offer and asked to initiate a background check. They keep saying he’s now in the “onboarding” stage. This “offer” is a letter that includes language like “contract for employment”, “expected hours of work”, a start date, and annual salary. 4. He contacts the person assigned to him as an “IT Supervisor” to ask if the interview loop is over and more specifics on the role, and gets the following response: “This is just the first stage of the interview, there is still more to the onboarding process like Zoom video interviews, Video conferencing and even the training” TLDR: after a screener, they sent something representative of an offer, but say he still has interviews and training before the interview process is complete. This all seems so ass backwards to me. Anyone here heard of them? Is this some sort of scam people are running these days? All the people and contacts checked out via linked in (their names, titles, and pictures matched linked in). HR emails were received from hr@simpplr.careers so it uses the simpplr domain. https://www.simpplr.com https://www.crunchbase.com/organization/simpplr-inc UPDATE: anything not from @simpplr.com is a phishing scam! Do not give them any personal info. #simpplr My TC: 🥜
The skype part is a serious red flag IMO, there's a common hiring scam where they lead you into thinking you're hired, and then ask you to source your device on your own due to some issues, and they'd reimburse you, ofc they only have one retailer to point you to. Perhaps double check if they really are from Simplrr? verify the email is actually from the company domain and what not
Is there a follow up on this? My partner got the same email and first steps on Skype. I’ve tried googling anything about this being a scam and I’m not finding much.
It could be the same scam since they’re using Skype. Ask your partner to reach out to the Simpplr HR on linked in and verify. Do not give them (the possible impersonators) any personal info
Confirmed this is a scam. We reached out to one of the “contacts” on LinkedIn and they confirmed they are not conducting Skype interviews. The fake company aslso used hr.simpplrcareers.com which the actual Simpplr recruiter confirmed is NOT their domain. Stay safe out there folks!
To beat a dead horse here’s a LinkedIn post from Simpplr acknowledging the scam: https://www.linkedin.com/posts/activity-6945421667942707200-g62h?utm_source=linkedin_share&utm_medium=ios_app
There's currently an active phishing campaign going on with simpplr. If anyone gets an email from Michael Zhong please ignore it. "Mr.Zhong" is impersonating simpplr's recruiting team by stealing their info on LinkedIn. Looks like the majority of his targets are recent college graduates on angel list. Please be vigilant.
