Anyone here work on a compensation team? I.e determine whether to match a competitor offer?

Seems like a fascinating job if you’re the person that has final say on how much to offer a candidate, and if they negotiate, how much more to offer. Would love to ask sone questions

Comp advisors just provide guidance. It's up to the hiring manager or his boss whether to approve things outside the standard range. It's not too fascinating - people have budgets and have to weigh giving you more meaning less to entice the next person they want to hire.
