I have read his tweets and watched a couple of his videos. His advice is mostly generic but he is a great storyteller! He also portrays himself as a tenured Product leader who has held very high positions / solved critical business problems at the companies he worked at - Google, Yahoo, Stripe. Iโm curious- has anyone here worked with him- either as a PM or a XFN? How was your experience? #google #yahoo #stripe #productmanagement
As a general rule of thumb, the more self-marketing they do, the less value-add they provide. If you provide value, other people will talk about you more than you talk about yourself. (YMMV, Exceptions to the rule, etc)
^^This More than half the influencers in LinkedIn are average at what they do, but promote as if they invented OpenAI๐คฆโโ๏ธ
Well said. He came to Microsoft PM Con few weeks ago and felt like he is all about talking and nothing concrete.
I mean have you watched any of his videos. There's nothing profound in there. I'm baffled how others find it useful or even engaging. A lot of it is just generic stuff, and his observations and advice are banal. And don't be fooled he's just another run of the mill PM. Just a lot of self marketing going on.
But he graduated at the top of his class lol
Nathan for you vibes

He's just another grifting influencer that gets paid by the boatloads for speaking fees. Saw him at an internal Microsoft event recently and got nothing from his presentation.
Iโm surprised at how he gets paid for his talks though. He also has an expensive course which seems to be always sold out based on his posts.
His content at MSFT was literally pictures and like 6 biases to avoid in PM. Neither the deck nor the content was anything above what a kid in high school could put together.
Nice try Shreyas
Hmmmm okay.
I have seen many who do self promotion and go to conferences and act as speakers and connectors, lack depth. They say they are experts but they are not , they were probably good in something - thatโs selling themselves (even if everything they sell is a lie)
Ok. But give an alternative that is better than Shreyas. I am tired of folks complaining, but not adding value by suggesting what else is better.
You want everything cooked and ready to eat .
He is a good PM, fairly ordinary in the trenches. Was surrounded by great engineers. I guess my only beef is that he talks about his experience like he invented the field of PM at Stripe or something.
Is it true that he was the first PM hire at Stripe?
No, and I donโt think he has ever said he was the first PM hire at Stripe either. He just talks about how he scaled the PM organization and the PM discipline at Stripe in a way that imo overstates his contribution.

I know someone who worked with him. He is decent at politics but otherwise, in terms of product vision, he is total dud
Oh wow. The amount of preaching he does abt product strategy is appalling given this context
Tell me more where I can learn about product vision ? Any content that you suggest ?
