Anyone looking for staff SWE role at midsized Chicago based tech company?

My team here at SpotHero just opened up a staff engineer role (backend - Java/Kotlin focused, some python here and there). Considering the recent big tech layoffs figured I'd post here to see if anyone's interested. It's a really chill culture and pretty awesome WLB. Good job security (we're essentially the AirBNB of parking and have been around for about a decade. Dont have any notable competitors, we don't pip people and I've never seen anyone in engineering actually get fired during my tenure here). VERY low pressure low stress environment. Pay's decent for the Midwest, probably between $180 -$200k base, maybe more depending on the candidate, legit unlimited PTO (We're encouraged to take a MINIMUM of 6 weeks each year and management never questions a PTO request) and are full remote. Although if you're in the Chicago, Toronto or NYC area, you can go into the office too if that's your thing. We have a solid recruiting team, so interview process moves along pretty quickly and we don't do LC style interviews. US or CA residents only - there are also some restrictions on which states/provinces we can hire from fyi. Happy to answer any questions from an IC standpoint so feel free to comment or shoot me a dm. Although, since this is a role that'll I'll be working with on a daily basis I'll probably wanna chat with ya a bit before I put in a referral. Edit: This is what we consider a "critical" role, so it does require at least 5 years of experience in previous Senior/Senior+ roles. #tech #hiring

Hello, Iโ€™m a new grad in CS. Are there any positions for myself?

Nah, sorry. Its what we consider a critical role. They're looking for 5 years min experience in a senior role and ideally ~10 years in overall SWE experience. Will update post to reflect that.

TC range ?

It's in the post. I'm not an HM, so can't confirm 100% but I'd guess base is probably in the 180-200 range. Maybe higher depending on candidate. I don't count equity cuz we're private and only offer options. Plus there's an annual perf bonus.

If you donโ€™t do LC style interviews, what do the interviews consist of?

Practical stuff that actually applies to our day to day jobs. A lot of its related to building api's and how a candidate approaches system design. Being that this is a senior+ role, how you work and collaborate with other team members is super important. I feel like we put a big emphasis on this - everyone on our engineering teams are honestly super nice and crazy helpful. We do an optional take home assessment too if a candidate prefers that approach just building a couple mock api endpoints - nothing too crazy..
