https://www.engadget.com/microsoft-unveils-copilot-pcs-with-generative-ai-capabilities-baked-in-170445370.html Looks like Microsoft is releasing a new PC that has generative AI Capabilities: What do you all think? Have you tried it?
The real question is, when do companies bake in budget to upgrade employee computers. Will new employees have advantages over existing employees? I see Small Businesses maybe jumping in this but I doubt even LinkedIn procurement has budgeted this upgrade.
I’m waiting for Microsoft auto pilot
How could someone have used them when they're not released? At best you'll get very few opinions of people willing to break their NDA speaking about pre-prod units...
im guessing it's just chat gpt with the assistant and system role predefined
Sound like gimmick
Isn’t most of ai ml thing anyway a gimmick ?
Do even Microsoft employees use these windows pcs for their development work?
I tried using a Mac for a while but you end up needing windows for something at some point. Gave up and gave windows a proper shot and it’s honestly not bad. I use Jetbrains IDEs and neovim and it all works like a charm. Winget also shits on homebrew when it comes to machine setup and package management.
You do realize that most companies don't use c#, winget and other MS development tools right? For development Linux > Mac > windows
These devices are so expensive. Why would I pay extra money to run copilot on device, if I can already run it on cloud?
lol prolly because you wouldn’t want your browser history on the cloud
Selling a windows pc with all its viruses, embedded advertisements, BSODs was hard enough. Now it comes with even more baggage. Who needs a stupid clippy popping up spewing nonsense, while trying to throw even crappier ads at you. Thanks but no thanks.
Total gimmick but many will fall for it and MS will make a good profit.
Who makes those pc's
Literally got an email from HP five mins ago advertising them, and their capabilities. Pretty awesome.
