I have been interviewing with overstock.com. about to go in for an on-site interview. How is it working there? Work/life balance ok? Why should I or should not work there? My current job is at times about as bad as a job can get so I feel like I can handle anything and how could anything be worse than my current job.
I would suggest you to stay clear of overstock. Toxic management, no real career growth, not very smart people or technical challenges to keep you going. I worked there for number of years before getting laid off. It was indiscriminate firing across departments. Besides the company got into lot of scandals recently and they are not able to turn any decent profit as they are losing to Wayfair. This is due to ineffective management and bad decisions like tzero which is derailing the company. I don't see any upside of joining them at this moment.
I work at overstock and I like it.
Good work/life balance. I have experienced great career growth as have many of my peers. My job is challenging and fun. There is a lot of great tech being worked on in the retail side.
I love working at overstock. The work life balance is really exceptional.
Work life balance is great, but not necessarily a stable place to work. If the retail side releases poor results for a quarter, layoffs are bound to happen. Overall, Overstock is losing market share and is having a hard time competing.
It’s a very nice company to work for with current leadership. But as others said numbers are not seeming good.
Things changed. Tech is run by Joel Weight. He is super knowledgeable and helps people grow. So in a nutshell OSTK is a good place to work.
Boiling pot, you never know when your last day is. prominent hiring firing culture. Check glassdoor
May I ask if you currently work there? Which part of the company do you work in? I heard about the layoffs that happened. Are there specific positions or areas of the company that are constantly hiring/firing?
Check glass door, Ostk is now a sinking ship.. they are under debt
