Hello, looking to move with my wife and infant son next month to work at Microsoft. Doing research now on some apartments to tour as soon as we get there. We want boring and quiet and I want my family to feel comfortable and safe, since the move itself might be rough on them. That being said, which apartments should I avoid? I’m looking at the Redmond/Bellevue area because I want to stay close since offices are opening up soon. Also, any recommendations on apartments would be greatly appreciated! Thank you! Eaves Redmond is close to Microsoft Overlake campus and has families with young children and 9-10 rated elementary schools and daycares nearby. Also the community management does good housekeeping, hence no rat/cockroach infestation. However rent keeps shooting up every quarter as management tries to take advantage of the location. Avoid Central Park near Crossroads Bellevue. Heard of families living in crowded/shared setting and insect infestations there. Evans Creek or Redmond Hills apartments if your office is in Redmond Town Center. For boring and quiet environment, explore Sammamish area for apartments/townhouses. Sky Sammamish, Colina Square are some apartments you can check out. Ideal to raise a family with well rated schools and safe city and lots of parks. Will require commute(12-15 miles from Redmond) but with WFH timelines extending by every quarter/flexible WFH schedules, more families are buying homes/renting apartments here.
Thanks for the detailed response. I’ll definitely stay away from Central Park then.
If you want boring, check out Sammamish. There are not a ton of apartment buildings but there are a few. liveskysammamish.com
Really disliked Avalon in bellevue, but enjoyed the city in general
What was wrong with Avalon in Bellevue?
I stay at Redmond Hills Apartments. I like quiet and open spaces. I had toured many places and that's the best one I could find. The apartments are small 2 floor buildings spread out accross a huge area with awesome greenery, pool and a gym. Some ground floor apartments also have a small fenced backyard. It's around 10 mins to the Microsoft offices. Also right next to Marymoor Park.
Interesting, I looked at the reviews for that place again. Most people complaining about the move out fees, but feel like all apartments fleece you there. Units aren’t too old or anything?
As the apartments are very old, did you face issues like mold, cracked walls, lack of noise insulation and appliances breaking down ?
When do you plan to move?
About the end of next month.
Stay away from onyx, the agents are a bunch of crooks and are currently being destroyed in a class action lawsuit
Oh wow. What are they being sued for??
Modera Redmond (gas cooking) is good. In general apartment with balcony on west are $200 more. Most of the days are cloudy in summer so I was picky to get an apartment with good light.
Not OP, but I’m moving to MSFT HQ soon. Didn’t Modera Redmond have a shooting a while back? I feel a bit uneasy about that.
I moved here recently. The building and elevator are secured and also decent neighborhood.
