Crossed a line with my boss
Hi. I recently passed my virtual onsite interview where I had to do a presentation and the interview was with 6 different people, and quite technical in nature. Now the recruiter called me to say that I passed that round and now I get to do a final interview with apple's leadership team. Anyone done this before? Is it normal? What should I expect? #tech #apple #engineering #interview #help
Yes. It’s normal. Typically director level or 1-2 levels above your manager depending on your role. It’s more behavioral, fit, growth path kind of interview. All the best. Stay cool and treat it as meeting typical 1-2 level up on your current role too and you will be fine.
Thanks a lot! I can't wait to share how it goes.
How did it go?
Did you get the job? How long did it take them to reach out after the final round?
How did it go?
It’s not usually an interview. It’s more of a chat about your goals and ambitions. I doubt it affects hiring one way or another, so just don’t say anything really dumb and you’ll be fine. Of course it might be the only time you ever chat with this “leader,” so make it count…
It most definitely affects hiring, as the director can flat out say no even after everyone else said yes. But it only happens if they detect a severe lack of fit, bad behavioral issues, etc. Like others have said, it's likely not going to be technical.
Why would a (competent) director say no randomly? That’s why I said don’t say anything dumb. But it’s not like the result is in limbo. The team has said yes so don’t screw it up.
