If you want to sit on apple shares and not sell them for about 10 years go for apple. Ask how snap RSU’s are vested? Is it $value vesting or no of shares vesting. If its dollar value vesting thats a headache dealing with taxes if the stocks skyrocket, if its shares vesting its a headache because if the shares tank you end up losing $$.
Snap is monthly vesting of stocks, as tax deduction happens with stocks. dollar loss is real if stock remains low forever. Seems unlikely, once the interest rate starts going down, ad revenues pick up, snap ar may succeed. Some upside for snap. Nested case of iffs. Apple might do layoff if china economy does not recover ? Not sure, if one can say apple is stable. I remain stuck in qcom, hoping it is stable place with low pay, until one fine day, hahaha.
Then Snap it is. If you are not sure how Snap is going to perform in future just sell your vested stocks and diversify your portfolio (past experiences 😂😂)
Snap stocks will be decreasing a lot in future. They had the problem with amount of vested stocks recently
Congrats on your offers. How was the snap interview? Typical leetcode + sys design??
Yes, a bit customized on leetcode, sys was domain specific.
What is the vesting schedule for apple rsu ?
4 year, 12% every 6 months
Don't leave for $100K less unless there's some extenuating circumstances.
Current tc is actually 0, thanks to macro conditions. That is why no joining bonus to cover any loss of unvested rsu built over years, hahaha.
Oh, your poll has "Current: $450K" as an option.
Congrats OP! What’s your domain ? ML/AI?
Thanks, embedded domain, soc, asic.
What would you work on in Snap ? Congrats btw. I thought they wound down their hardware pet projects. I work in this area for meta btw. Also where is snap offer ? For LA or remote ?
Go snap
Go to Snap so you may realize how wrong your decision was and regret massively. Nothing is better than first-hand experience! ☺️☺️
Sure, I am here to assess the risk of joining snap vs low pay of faang. I spent my youth in QC, winning and counting all my and project successes. Then one fine day, hahaha. The us team is too costly to keep around. let use the opportunity of macro economic, and finish the entire us team off. I do see the risk that I might regret one day joining snap, but joining faang at lower salary than last drawn salary from non-faang, tough to internalize. That is why, here to seek opinion from folks, who are wiser, smarter, and opiniated.
Heard this story from Qualcomm guys, they are not fans of current ceo and the offshoring model.
Can’t you get other companies? Meta or something.
Meta is taking forever to finish a missing round of full loop. I hope, it is done by next week.

Snap stock will be $6.9 by the end of this year, check the stock history, bro.
this is a concern to some extent. from $11 to $6.9 still ok, as refresher rsu cover the loss and overall comp will still be better than apple. 100 K RSU every year vs 300 K RSU every year and loss its value by 50%, still better deal overall :). Snap is good as long as one is not part of next layoff and so on, as there is hardly any room to move to other projects within snap. this make me worry. In comparison, Apple seems good as there are lot of complex teams, where you can apply and move around, in case one project goes down.
Snap doesn't have refreshers
