Hi everyone, Apple DV. vs Samsung Design Samsung: San Jose, wireless group base:135k signon:20k no rsu Apple: Cupertino, display group base: 140k signon:25k rsu: 100k I’m a new grad and just got these two offers. I prefer design to dv but Apple seems to be a bigger name and has more TC. I do have software work experience but I like computer architecture and digital design more. Does ASIC designer have better career development? I don't want to go to apple and do an internal transfer later. I've also heard of some stories here about toxic culture of Samsung but what I care most is growth in early career. Which should I choose at the beginning of my career? Thanks!
Probably the wrong app to say this on, but go with your interest. If you want DV, then apple or if you want design then Samsung. People can make a switch from DV to design or architecture if you're unsure right now, just that you have to be ready to strike when an opportunity arises
Thanks! Appreciate it!

Move to India to increase scope?
A shift from DV to design in your early career can be quite challenging as the hiring manager would prefer to keep you in the DV team. If your interest is really in design you should go with Samsung, get a few years of experience and then move to a higher paying job. DV to design would take a considerable time and effort to switch within Apple
Thank you for the quick response! I'm wondering if a designer would get a narrow career path and be difficult to hop to another job. Because I don't see many semiconductor companies with wireless group.
Design is also very domain specific. But the skills that you would gain like debugging, coding practices, solving timing issues, etc etc are what will make you a good designer. So when you shift these skills would be valuable. Domain specific knowledge can be gained once you move to a different team too.
