I received an ICT4 offer from Apple, but my offer letter doesn't have the word "Senior" in it. The recruiter described ICT4 verbally as "mid-level to senior" and I see ICT4 is usually referred to as senior online (levels.fyi & Glassdoor) Does Apple usually just not include labels in the title, or am I actually not a senior hire? Nit, but I'm somewhat concerned about the title downgrade on my resume/LinkedIn if the role is not senior
Apple level/title is only for you to see (and for compensation purposes). You can put whatever on your resume
My manager/skip will know right? I'm probably overthinking this but I added the manager on LinkedIn and don't want to come off as misrepresenting my position
Internally, Apple makes a point not to label roles or titles. No one is supposed to know colleague’s levels except managers, so titles and seniority are decoupled from ICT leveling. Externally, like on LinkedIn, no one will be bothered if you call yourself Senior as a 4. I wouldn’t be bothered by it on your offer, as your ICT level determines your pay too.
Oh that's interesting. So even if you're talking to a Staff or Distinguished Eng, you would have no idea what their level is? That sounds pretty radical
you’re not supposed to, but in many cases people will tell you their leveling. ICs tend to care a lot less about levels and pay transparency than the powers that be
