I recently got an offer from Apple and recruiter said that the level is ICT5. On the offer letter they mentioned title as "Senior Software Engineer". I asked the recruiter why not Staff and she said that Apple does not have any formal titles and I can call myself Staff on LinkedIn since that is that it maps to. I have no formal confirmation that the level they are offering is ICT5 although she has sent me emails saying that it is ICT5. Is that the way it usually is should I ask them to mention ICT5 on the offer letter?
What's the offer ?
Offer numbers and yoe? They can give good insight into whether you were given an ICT5 offer
Apple does not disclose the ICT level in the offer letter; moreover, we don't have titles like Senior or Staff (meaning, when you get promoted, your ICT level changes, but not your title). Congrats on the offer! I guess since you received a written letter, you have already verbally committed to Apple, so welcome to Apple!
If your offer is E6 level at FB, then it has to be at least ICT5 at Apple. The title in offer letter is quite generic. I am ICT4 and if I remember correctly, the title was Software Engineer in offer letter. If I may ask, which org is this offer from?
If an Apple recruiter contacts you for Sr. SWE position in Siri, does it mean ict5 or can it be ict4 as well?
Can be either; positions are usually open for a range of seniority. Each req has a lower level title and an upper level title.
Geez how come 6.5 YOE join as T5? I’m at 8 and joined at T4
Cuz he came from FB and not Lam Research
That’s a shit reason . Company does not decide your level
Where is TC??
This got me wondering. Does ICT3 map to SWE 2/L4 and ICT2 map to SWE 1/L3 at other places? I have new graduates (BS not MS) on my team who started as ICT3s but that would mean they essentially skipped a level, no?
What are the annual refreshers for T4 and T5 for meet all ?
What is the offer? Do post the breakdown
You are focusing on the wrong things. Titles don’t mean jack shit here. Welcome to Apple :)
Thanks! So my questions was more on like - should I believe the recruiter when she says it is ICT5 (without it being mentioned on the offer letter). Thanks for your guidance :)
Offer letters do not mention your IC level (at least mine did not). Once you get in, you can “see” your IC level in the internal HR account. I honestly don’t think you should ask the recruiter to mention ICx on the offer letter, why risk starting off on a bad note.
