Apple ICT5 (staff) offer expectations?
Asking for a friend who's in FAANG already and is being asked for expectations for the offer. Apple told him it'd be ICT5. 7 yoe, grad degree, aced the interviews, SWE, not AI/ML org, Bay area. Thanks
Really depends on the org and competing offer. I would say don’t sign unless it’s on par with other staff offers at top companies. Base: 220-250k RSU: 800k-1M Sign on: 100k
Anything below 1M is low for staff. He's thinking 1.5M. Is this too high for Apple?

Well, he already did. It's not a generic swe. It's a specific field and he has 7 yoe in industry plus grad degree with published papers in the same field.
Did he show you the offer? I have been around for a long time to know how things works here
ICT5 for 7 yoe. That’s crazy/impressive if your friend really got ICT5 level.
He's already at staff level in his current company.
Got ICT5 for AI/ML about a year ago package was 260k 1.5 mln 100+45 sign on over 2 years Had a few competing offers like this

Usually apple don’t hire external ICT5. May be they offered him IC5. Check your offer

My offer for ic5: 220 base+ 850k bonus+ 85k sign on. I have phd. When i joined apple i had 5 yoe. (It was two years ago)
