Issues of logistic and scalability, as far as I remember.
It says there's miscommunication etc issues between teams. At certain time, modem scope/ feature/ or fix bugs/ changed and will require all the rest of the components in supply chain change. But apparently it takes time. Svp level decides to postpone to have better alignment. People are not happy.
Few months back, I heard that Apple wanted to extend only for a year and Qualcomm was pushing for 5 years or nothing. That’s the negotiation that was going on, finally they settled for 3 years deal.
This was also what I heard from a VP. He said Apple was pushing for 1 year extension considering its power and QC's situation
Apple modem team has 3 camps - Apple, ex-Qualcomm and ex-Intel. Each group thinks they are smarter than other groups. Forget modem, Apple first needs to get these 3 groups to work together as a team

IMHO citing this as a reason sounds bogus to me. The reason must be technical, probably a intractable modem design, or very difficult platform to develop and fix bugs. etc. Either way it is a failure of management, as they must have green lighted such a design. They should also have paid attention and heard people on the ground (which doesn't happen organically like in Q, as their managers are also tech leads). they shouldn't be shifting the blame on warring camps etc.
I really Doubt Apple vs Intel vs Q theory. Is this the first time in history of employees changing the company ? We all have seen many exQ has left for Intel and vice versa.
Does that mean that the modem is ready but RFFE is not ready? Can you elaborate?
