Ordered an iPad from Apple and chose same-day delivery. It appears they use Uber/Postmates for their delivery (which they don’t tell you before hand). Saw the delivery driver pass my house on the app and then mark it as delivered. I never received anything. After filing a complaint with Apple they said they have to conduct an investigation first. I read many accounts online that reported of Apple just saying they can’t do anything since it’s marked as delivered. This seems wild to me. Now I’m worried I’m just out of $800. Should I wait for the investigation to conclude or should I dispute the claim with my bank right now to avoid having to foot the bill? Has anyone else been in this situation? TL;DR: Apple same day delivery got stolen by Uber driver. Am I out $800 now?
I’d dispute the charge immediately. If apple refunds you, the bank will automatically end the dispute.
I was hoping to just do a replacement order since they said they would deliver it for free (refunded delivery fee). But I might just do the refund, dispute and buy it on Amazon.
Contact Uber and file a claim there too. Apple won't lose their reputation over $800. If it's stolen they will give it back to you.

I have lost my apple watch like this. I didn’t report in 5 days of delivery and after that apple said you need to report within 5 days of delivery. After that they can’t do anything. I reached out to both apple and fedex. No one gave me any money or replacement. Ended up with losing my apple watch

This sounds like a logistical nightmare. Did they really think this assembly line was the best bet? And I realize Apple hosts the worst retail experience on the planet, but just go to one of their stores next time or wait for someone reputable like FedEx to deliver
Definitely won’t do this again. If I had known they just send an Uber driver I wouldn’t have done it. I gave Apple too much credit.
Dispute the charge. It gets their attention quickly as they only have so many days to respond.
Just dispute it with your credit card company, let them do the hard work
I hope you paid by credit card. Initiate an investigation by your credit card company and get the money credited back to your card. Go with FedEx or UPS next time...

None of these parties care about $800. File a claim with all three and it’ll work out in the end.
