I'm interviewing for a cyber security team with Apple for a role that has to do with vulnerability management and remediating discovered issues and that sort of stuff. Anyone here works at Apple security? How's it like to work in those teams in terms of: 1- WLB 2- Interesting Work 3- Team members 4- Culture in general By the way, those teams aren't under IS&T, are they? lol
Assuming it is the vulnerability management team under the infosec org (ais) 1. WLB is top notch. Generally speaking, you don’t have to work very hard. 2. It’s mostly operational work/team/org. So, “interesting” would depend on your perspective and how you can make ops interesting. 3. Not bad people, but technically not the most effective folks you could work with/for 4. Culture is generally not engineering (delivering services/products) but like #1, more operationally focused and chugs along (not much changes year after year).
Thanks a lot! This is really great insight. I really appreciate it :) So, I guess I can’t go wrong if I get to join them overall.
I work in AIS, not vuln management specifically but very familiar with them. WLB is fantastic, there are some interesting problems, team is great and spread out between Sunnyvale, Austin, and Seattle. People are generally happy.
Thanks. I really appreciate the insight :) Yeah, that was my expectation. Good to know.
What’s ur current TC and what’s ur expectation?
How was the interview process? How many rounds, types of questions, etc.?
Did you get in?
How was the interview?
What did they ask?
Do not join SEAR (bad culture, no growth, bias). AIS folks are happier. WLB is better.
Any tips from the interview ?
In theory, these don’t exist. Good luck finding that unicorn of a role though.
So the team I am interviewing with is fake “in theory”. Gotcha! You’re very helpful.
You’re missing the point: Red, Blue, and Purple team members don’t make themselves known. I can understand if this is your first ever role in infosec though.
