Hi folks, So I recently passed the Apple interviews and I'm currently negotiating comp with the recruiter. This is for a position in JG's org (ML and AI). The recruiter mentioned that the target bonus each year is 20% of base salary. Does that sound accurate? From my research here (on Blind) about different Apple offers, it seems that 10% is the standard target bonus? I wonder if the target bonus % depends on the org? Or is the recruiter inflating that number to make the offer sound more appealing? Thanks! (If anyone cares, my current TC at Google is ~350k) #Apple
What level at google ?
L5
Did you get L5 or L4 at Apple? Why are you moving from Google to Apple?
I moved from Google L5 to Apple ICT4 as I started getting bored at G. Apple does offer competitive compensation depending on the org.
So the recruiter hasn't mentioned which apple level yet, but I'm guessing it'll be ICT4 or ICT5. My reasons for considering to move are mainly that Google is getting pretty boring and it looks like a good growth opportunity in terms of both compensation and career trajectory 🙂
I moved from Apple to Google, as ML SWE. The two firms have very different cultures. In Apple I couldn’t talk to my colleagues about their projects. Everything was secret. Not a great (social) work environment. Similarly, technical growth was harder at Apple due to having many separate islands of projects, and lack of technical collaboration amongst those. Apple also isn’t a data driven company. It’s rather a design focused company, limiting your impact and making ML engineer’s life less fun (more frustrating). The place isn’t run by SWEs. Overall, I’d rate G over A, but your personal situation might vary.
I’m an ICT4 in JG’s .org, and got 10% bonus with a well above average yearly review. That said, RSU refresh is where it’s at. Just remember that you will probably not be eligible for review this year (too late start), so negotiate sign on accordingly.
regarding "eligible for review", can you explain more about what that means? does that lead into stock refreshes?
Same as in any company: Performance review outcome decides raise + bonus + any RSUs. First year there is a cutoff date, and any one starting after will only take part in review in following year.
I got close to 20% cash bonus every year and I was average performer at apple.
if I may ask, what org and what level were you at?
Seg, ic4

Why I Find Free Palestine Inspiring
20% is too high and recruiter is not giving true picture. I would use 10% for calculations. If you do better great
