Have an offer from Apple and planning to take it. Coming from Amazon, I'm curious how good or bad the culture at Apple is. Things to consider: - Work life balance - Employee benefits - Job stability
It can't possibly be worse than Amazon's at the moment
Coming from Amazon should make everything look peach!
Apple is very org dependent. IMO hardware has the most pressure and worst WLB
Agreed, I’m HWE
*Ops has entered the chat*
As long as you are not in operations than WLB, benefits, and job security are pretty good.
As long as you don’t bring Amazon cultures it’s good
I’ve worked at both. I think people are overall nicer at Amazon, but management at both companies suck. Work life balance varies greatly by team, manager and role. Benefits are better than Amazon. Like dental teeth cleaning 3 x a year but Amazon only got 2 a year. Negotiate for as many RSUs as you can get. So many tenured Apple employees have bank in stock and 3 of my former colleagues retired at age 51 and 52!
How long did your former colleagues work there
One at 13 years, another at 15 years and one at 18 years tenure. Stock was super low back then and they used to give out RSUs like it was candy!
This is a pretty much company where you plan to retire not jump start your career … this should help
Wrong. Average tenure at apple is 18 months and there is a reason for this
Subtract out the retail employees and it’s a different story. Anyone there more than 10 years is there for stock vesting and planning to retire in their early 50’s (I’m a former Apple employee) and just riding the wave until then…
Apple is worst wlb and toxic environment. However Amazon is far worst and HR may not have stressful time as well. But it's pretty bad at apple
Very wrong generalization. 3elppA ‘s team may be bad. In general, things are not horrible. Just need to avoid bad orgd and managers
very org dependent, I joined last Aug and now waiting for my next vest and bonus then run away. Worst wlb in my entire career so far (20 year). My friend in a different org but has decent wlb
I am more worried that you coming from Amazon may pollute Apple’s culture.
Which org/team?
Human resources
We are going HR people now? Why on earth?
